ChildVoice International employs three key strategies to assist children impacted by war around the world.

1. Awareness and Advocacy. ChildVoice International seeks to raise awareness about ongoing conflict and the devastating impact of violence and war on children. We seek to advocate for these children whose voices have been silenced by war. We raise awareness through:

  • Partnering with other organizations to campaign for these children and their rights, including Global Angels, Stop the Traffic, Amnesty International, World Vision, Invisible Children, and others;
  • Raising grassroots awareness through designing and sponsoring local events and initiatives;
  • Providing education and information to leaders in public policy to encourage their involvement in issues relating to children of war.

2. Research. ChildVoice International collects and disseminates research on issues related to the impact of war on children, including the effects of violence on children, post-traumatic stress disorder, counseling models, short- and long-term rehabilitation strategies, family reintegration, and transition best practices. An online repository of this research is available for easy access by users.

3. Demonstration projects. ChildVoice International collaborates with local initiatives in war-torn countries to design and sustain projects in which children of war can receive appropriate levels of care to meet their short- and long-term needs. The projects aim to deliver holistic, comprehensive care to ensure that children receive tangible assistance in the following areas:

  • Housing
  • Psycho-social support
  • Education
  • Spiritual guidance
  • Vocational training
  • Parenting skills and early childhood education (since many child victims of war are child mothers)
  • Reintegration into society, including family tracking, mentoring through local churches and communities, microfinance support, and job coaching to transition into full-time jobs.

See "Demonstration projects" tab for more information on our project in Uganda.
