The Pure and True Meaning of Valentine’s Day

For many, the month of February conjures up images of red roses and hearts. It’s the month of Valentine’s Day, the month of love. In Japan, Valentine’s Day is celebrated by women presenting chocolate to men. In Mexico, the day is known as the “Day of Love and Friendship” and it is common for people to do acts of appreciation for their friends. To the outsider, Valentine’s Day seems like just another ordinary day in Lukodi, Uganda. There are no grand demonstrations of love and there are certainly no cards, flowers, or heart-shaped candies. Gulu Business Partnerships Benefit ChildVoice

A business owner in Gulu town raised money and awareness for ChildVoice International at a recent art event. Tom O’Lalobo is the owner of Coffee Hut, a popular coffee shop in Gulu town. After hearing about the work of ChildVoice and its beneficiaries, O’Lalobo decided to hold an art exhibit and donate a portion of the proceeds to the organization. Read more...


Lukodi Primary School Roof Repaired

Violent winds whipped through Lukodi in November, tearing the roof off Lukodi Primary School and damaging other ChildVoice property at the center. A new roof has now been put in its place as the children returned to start a new school year this February. Read more...


Last Chance: March Team Trip to Uganda

ChildVoice is sponsoring a team trip, March 14 – 26, 2011, to its project site in northern Uganda. This comprehensive project provides opportunities for volunteers who have interest and expertise in education, counseling, early childhood development, church leadership training, healthcare, water and sanitation, microenterprise and microcredit development.

One focus of this trip will be agriculture to help develop and improve ChildVoice’s farm and provide training to other farmers in the community. If you are a seed/plant specialist; soil and fertilizer experience; knowledge of sustainable farming practices; or are interested in livestock production -- you are needed.
